The United Church of Christ has its origin in 1957 at the merger which brought together four strands of Protestant Christianity in the United States (read more about our history). Our denomination has entered a new era of dynamic change and spiritual growth in recent decades, typified by the God is Still Speaking campaign, which brought new recognition to the special nature of the UCC and its diverse, unique history.
There are many great resources provided by the UCC which can refresh your perspective, offer a peaceful break of spiritual reflection in a busy day, and help you understand more about our faith. Take a moment to enjoy some of these resources here, and find more at the UCC website!
- Feed Your Spirit – features the UCC Daily Devotional, which you can receive by email; Weekly Seeds, a longer-form once-a-week email with bible study content; and ideas for spiritual practices.
- UCC resources for Families and Children – offers ideas for choosing a Bible for a child; a multicultural bibliography of books for children; and more.
- Global Ministries – you can learn here about the work of the UCC throughout the world, in partnership with our sister denomination the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Another aspect of our mission work is the yearly special denominational offering, One Great Hour of Sharing (in the season of Lent).
- Lectionary and Bible Resources – If you’d like to reflect on the lectionary reading for a particular Sunday, UCC has got you covered – check out SAMUEL, a resource that lets you choose the Sunday and then shows the relevant Lectionary passages and a reflection on them. Additional resources, not developed by the UCC but linked on the main site: The UCC also connects to “Enter the Bible“, a free online Bible learning resource developed by Luther Seminary.
