Stewardship 2019: Please Pledge by 12/16

Dear Members and Friends of Brookmeade:

It is time once again for our annual Stewardship appeal, and we thank you for your ongoing gifts of time, talent and resources. I am excited about another year of the church’s partnership with Vanderbilt Divinity School. Nashville continues to need our firm voice for social justice more than ever.

Thanks to last year’s gifts, Brookmeade completed another year of caring. The church participated in the five UCC mission offerings that support national efforts toward health, disaster relief, racial justice, and other systemic issues. Internationally, Brookmeade sponsored the education of children in Uganda through the “Raise the Roof” program and made donations to Heifer International. Our local initiatives included the Heimerdinger Foundation; Room in the Inn to provide shelter to those experiencing homelessness; Vanderbilt Divinity School; both the Contribute Our Wealth (“COW”) Offering and Souper Bowl of Caring support the local food bank; and our church members continue to volunteer many hours toward the mission of Project CURE. These are just a few of the many ways our monetary contributions support the local, national and global community.

The Stewardship appeal also supports our life together on Bresslyn Road. The first year of our partnership with Vanderbilt Divinity School provided our congregation with the leadership of Sarah Kientz and Margaret Ernst. It was an exciting year of worship, fellowship, and outreach. This year promises to build on that success with the gifts of Lead Student Pastor Abbey Labrecque and Associate Student Pastor Rebecca Griffith. As with last year, Diane Tugel will continue as Supervising Pastor. They bring a wealth of experience and energy to our church life, and we look forward to the gifts they will bring with our continued support.

Please join me in sustaining the spirit of Brookmeade. Our goal in this stewardship campaign is 100% participation. That is, we hope to collect pledge cards from the same number of Brookmeaders as our last campaign. If you typically give to Brookmeade, but have never formally made a pledge, I hope you will consider making a pledge this year to help us reach (and exceed!) our goal of 100% participation.

Pledge cards can be found in the front foyer on Sunday mornings. Please renew your annual pledge by Sunday, December 16th. Thank you again for your pledges, gifts and talents. Together, we are making a difference for the good.

Sincerely yours,

Rob D.
