The first Sunday of every month is COW Sunday (Contribute Our Wealth). Everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food for Second Harvest. All money donations are split between Second Harvest and Heifer International. Brookmeade doing its part to alleviate hunger! Our next COW Offering is on January 5th.
Student Pastor Becca Griffin is finishing up her time at Vanderbilt Divinity Student where her concentration is in Religion and Art in Contemporary Culture. As part of her concentration, she has done a project with Vanderbilt Divinity Library’s online Revised Common Lectionary. She will be sharing art from this project relevant to Advent beginning this Sunday, December 8th. We will discuss the visual art included in this project, discussing the new artists like Omari Booker whose art was featured on the front of the bulletin this past Sunday, December 1. The Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 24th. Please invite your family, friends and neighbors to attend this special service of readings and hymns as we celebrate the joy of Christmas! Reception following service, with light refreshments and a time of great fellowship!
The Annual Brookmeade Christmas Caroling will take place Sunday 12/15. We will leave about 12:00-12:15pm, following Coffee Fellowship, and go to four homes of area Brookmeaders. For over 100 years, the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund has been a way to ensure that a light of love and hope will always shine for faithful servants of our church who find themselves facing unforeseen financial need. The offering, one of five special offerings that Brookmeade participates in, enables us to provide Pension Supplementation, special grants for emergencies, and Christmas “Thank You” Gift Checks to over 1000 individuals and families in need. There will be special envelopes in the bulletin on December 22, we give a sincere thanks for your generosity.
Please join us Saturday, November 30th as we decorate our church building for the Advent Season starting at 10:00 am. There is a Christmas tree that will need to be put together and decorated. We are asking folks who have access to fresh greenery such as pine sprigs, evergreen branches and magnolia leaves to bring those to decorate with.
