Brookmeade welcomes Guest Speaker Rev. Elizabeth Caldwell on Sunday, April 28th. Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Caldwell is an author, teacher and quilter. She retired from thirty years of teaching at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago in 2014. Having failed retirement, she enjoys teaching courses in religious education at VDS as an adjunct professor and writing children’s books including, Growing in God’s Love, A Story Bible for Children and God’s Big Plan.
The first Sunday of every month is COW Sunday (Contribute Our Wealth). Everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food for Second Harvest. All money donations are split between Second Harvest and Heifer International. Brookmeade doing its part to alleviate hunger!
Project CURE Volunteer Group is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, from 9:30 am – 12 pm (2300 Clifton Ave, 37209). We will be sorting medical supplies to be sent to hospitals in developing countries. Everyone is welcome, including newcomers! See you there!

Easter Worship Service, 10:30am
It is time to order the Lilies and Hydrangeas that will decorate our sanctuary for Easter Sunday! Order forms for Lilies and Hydrangeas are located in the front foyer. Please place your orders and make payment no later than Sunday, March 31st. You can leave your form and payment in the offering plate or on the desk in the office. Thank you! And please remember to take your plant home on Easter Sunday after the service!One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ involves you in disaster, refugee/immigration, and development ministries throughout the world. When a disaster strikes or people are displaced or made refugees by violence or extreme poverty, you are part of the immediate response and of the long-term recovery. Through OGHS you engage in holistic development programs including health care, education, agriculture, food sustainability, micro-financing and women’s empowerment. Because the UCC relates in mutual partnership to churches and organizations through Global Ministries and worldwide response & recovery networks, your contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing put you in the right place at the right time for the relief, accompaniment and recovery of the most vulnerable. You meet immediate needs and you address the underlying causes that create those needs in the first place. Brookmeade is a Five for Five Church, participating in all five of the UCC special offerings. The offering will be taken on March 31st. Special envelopes will be in the bulletin.
Join us this Sunday 3/10 for a new members class from 12 pm – 1 pm where we will learn about UCC and Brookmeade history. Whether you are new among us or already call Brookmeade home, all are welcome!

February has flown by, which means RISE, the Gathering is just around the corner! At the RISE gathering, we will live into who we are as Brookmeaders by sharing and working together. Through our collaboration it is our hope that we will develop a focus and ground for decision making in the midst of our current and future transitions. We ask that you please fill out the questions in the RISE packet. These are located on the welcome table at church and in your weekly emails. It is important that we all think through and prepare answers to these questions individually in order that we all come to the gathering table prepared for our collective work.
