Unearthing Subversive Imagination: A Lenten Journey for Adults and Youth
Sundays from 9:15-10:15 a.m., Beginning Sunday, Feb. 26
We will use the book The Prophetic Imagination by renowned theologian Walter Brueggemann. About the book: “Writing in a popular, conversational style, Walter Brueggemann shows what the prophetic imagination is and why it can transform the present in powerful and unexpected ways . . . A clear understanding of the prophetic imagination, combining its rich Old Testament heritage and the prophetic ministry of Jesus, leads to the development of an alternative consciousness for our time.”
Our leaders will be student pastors Marty and Angela.
To be part of this experience:

The NFL Super bowl is February 5th. That is also the date of the annual “Souper Bowl of Caring” at Brookmeade. As in years past we try to alleviate hunger by bringing in cans of soup that we will deliver to Second Harvest Food Bank. February 5th is also “COW Sunday”, instead of passing around the shopping cart we will pass around the “Soup Pot” to collect money for Second Harvest and Heifer International. From September to December of 2016 we delivered 91 pounds of food to Second Harvest food bank. Last year’s “Souper Bowl” we collected 168 cans of soup. How many will we collect this year? That depends on you… to tackle hunger.
