Sat. July 14th: Art Exhibit benefiting Project CURE

Brookmeader Kimiko Sakai, is having a special exhibit at Shimai Gallery on Saturday evening, July 14, from 6-8 p.m. of 30 of her hand colored photographs taken on her recent trip to the Madagascar and Galapagos Islands. Proceeds from the evening’s sales will benefit the nonprofit organization, Project C.U.R.E. which provides medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Shimai Gallery is located in West Nashville next to Loveless Cafe.

Sun. July 1st: COW Offering

The first Sunday of every month we Contribute Our Wealth (COW) to help fight hunger in Middle Tennessee and worldwide. On COW Sunday we ask everyone to bring in non-perishable foods to put in the shopping cart. These foods are delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank. We also take up a cash collection that is split between Second Harvest and Heifer International. Remember to bring in food and extra offering for COW (Contribute Our Wealth) Sundays!

Please make plans to share in our next Music Sunday on July 29th. We want all to feel welcome to share a song, a poem, a lyric, or a story that has moved you in a special way. Also, feel free to request a song or reading that moves you. We ask that you make any song or reading requests ASAP and let us know by July 22nd if yuou want to participate in the service on July 29th. Mon. June 18th: Pride Spirituality Night

We have the exciting opportunity to kick off Nashville Pride week by participating in Pride Spirituality Night on June 18th at 7pm in Vanderbilt’s Benton Chapel. Information about Brookmeade will appear in a resource guide that will be handed out at the event, which includes information about inclusive religious and spiritual communities in Nashville. Here’s how else we can participate…

  2. Like to sing?The leaders of Pride Spirituality Night are looking for artists, musicians, and singers that would want to participate in the service. They will have one rehearsal the night before for the joint choir. If interested, please email Sarah or the church office.
  3. Show up at Pride Spirituality Night. Kick off pride week and link arms with those who consider themselves as spiritual in our beloved city of Nashville. It is beautiful when we can come together so please don’t miss this opportunity! Sarah plans to attend and looks forward to sitting with you!

June 23rd-24th: Nashville Pride Festival

Brookmeade does not have a booth at Pride Fest this year but we can still support the event! Pride Fest has something for everyone to enjoy: Equality Walk at 10 am Saturday, Kids Activities, Live Music, Drag Shows, Youth Pavilion, and over 200 vendors including local artists and businesses. And it only costs $5 per day! You won’t want to miss the 2018 Nashville Pride Festival in downtown Nashville Saturday, June 23rd – Sunday, June 24th. If you plan to participate in the Equality Walk Saturday at 10 am, Brookmeaders will be meeting at the intersection of 2nd & Commerce St at 9:30 AM.
